Obstructing the work of journalist, Edmonda Avdija, Gjakove, 14.06.2022
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo - AJK, is concerned about the obstruction of TV SYRI’s team in Gjakovë.
According to their complaint, Edmonda Avdija – a journalist on this media was not allowed to enter the Department of the Blood Transfusion at "Isa Grezda" Hospital, in Gjakovë, by the head of this department, Kreshnik Abrashi.
"Edmonda Avdija was not allowed to enter the Department of the Blood Transfusion at "Isa Grezda" Hospital, by the head of this department, Kreshnik Abrashi, on the grounds that she has published him on the portals when he was arrested. He closed the door with rude behavior and said that as long as he is the head of that department, they won’t be allowed there", says the television complaint received by AJK.
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo, condemns this behavior of Mr. Abrashi, as well as considers it a flagrant violation of the right to access to information and contradicts the general values of freedom of speech. The attempt to impose on journalists what to report is a tendency to control information.
Furthermore, AJK encourages journalists to continue reporting and not to withdraw from informing citizens.
