Sexist Language Against Journalist Meridiana Statovci, Prishtina, 12.3.2025
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) strongly condemns the sexist, unacceptable, and degrading language used by Visar Geci against KOHA journalist Meridiana Statovci.
Geci, who serves as an advisor to the Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, attacked journalist Statovci with derogatory language due to her reporting on the construction work on “George W. Bush” street in the capital.
AGK demands that Mayor Rama clearly distance himself from and condemn this language, which comes from an official with whom he works.
Such behavior makes it more difficult for journalists to do their work, and it is even more serious when directed at female journalists, as it aims to degrade their professional efforts.
