Other threats towards journalists, Prishtinë, 15.10.2025
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) expresses deep concern over the recent statement by Faton Peci, the Vetëvendosje party candidate for the municipality of South Mitrovica, who announced his intention to sue several journalists for publishing exit poll results.
AJK views this threat of legal action against journalists as an open attempt to intimidate and obstruct their professional work.
Such actions by Mr. Peci represent a serious attack on press freedom in Kosovo and an effort to discourage journalists from fulfilling their duty to inform the public.
AJK also considers this move an attempt to shift political disputes into the media sphere, a practice that is entirely unacceptable in a democratic society.
Mr. Peci has a record of hostile behavior toward the media and journalists. AJK calls on him to immediately refrain from such actions, which undermine democracy and freedom of expression in Kosovo.
