AJK Welcomes Temporary Financial Solution for RTK
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) welcomes today’s decision by the Government of Kosovo to approve a €2.5 million loan for Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK).
This decision ensures RTK’s continued operation for at least the next three months and allows for the payment of salaries to its 700 employees.
AJK has stood by RTK journalists and other staff from the very beginning and congratulates them for carrying out their duties despite ongoing financial pressures.
AJK calls on the current Government of Kosovo and the political party leading it, Vetëvendosje, to stop the persistent political pressure on RTK, which has been exerted in various forms.
AJK also urges the new legislature to pass a new Public Broadcaster Law that would guarantee RTK’s independent and unhindered operation, including finding a resolution regarding its property.
