Today in Pristina a conference is being held on media education in the Western Balkans, organized by the European Union in Kosovo.
In this all-day conference, a topic of discussion is the role of constructive journalism in an environment where sensational and polarizing news overshadow informative and fact-based journalism.
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo in this conference in the first panel is being represented by Besnik Velija, Member of the Board, while the other speakers in this panel are Ximena Villagán, Chief Operating Officer of Maldita from Spain, Tamara Bajcic, Chief Executive Officer of Demostat from Serbia, Anida Sokol, editor and researcher at Mediacentar from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Admir Qose, editor-in-chief of Alsat-M from North Macedonia.
The discussion in a first part was focused on building resilience against foreign interference and information manipulation, including disinformation in media, requires a constructive approach to events and reporting. The focus of this panel will be to explore ways to boosting solutions-based reporting and enhancing media capacity to counter disinformation and empower the public.
The conference will also have two other panels, in which the media environment in the Western Balkans for traditional and digital media will be discussed, as well as inspiring addresses from experienced journalists.
